WEll, Sas told me he was playing Mass Effect, his first venture into the realm of RPG. I have been an RPG fan since 1981 when I played 'Gateway to Apshai' for the Atari 800 Programmable. Yes my friends, thats before the Atari 2600, before Asteroids and Centepedes. Games came on clunky cartridges or cassette tapes and took 20 minutes to load. It took nerves of steal and patience to play a pixalated RPG like Gateway to Apshai that had over 10 levels that had no ending...thats right...after level 10 in the dungeon, there was simply no end to the game..go ahead, google/wiki the dam game. They simply made no end !!!! Drove me nuts for over 25 years till I googled it myself and realized I had wasted precious hours of my grade 2/3 life trying to find the end to a game that didnt exist !
I digress...I purchased Mass Effect from EB games last weekend. Installed it with the patches and free DLC. The game is brilliant, beautiful and cinematic. It is not as free roaming as Fallout 3 or Oblivion, but it has a good story and believable abmience. The usefullness of your comrades in combat is questionable, but the game is 5 stars.
IF you can find it, get it, play it, and port your character onto Mass Effect 2, which from all accounts is fantastic.
Adama out.
